Five Tips To Consider When Setting Up a Dental Marketing Plan
|For dentists who don’t have any marketing background, dental marketing can be difficult at first.
These are five tips to keep in mind when you’re looking for ways to invest money in a dental marketing strategy.
1. Don’t follow the example of others.
In my consultation meetings with dentists I ask my team to list 3 things they do differently from other practices. It turns out that everyone is listing the same things.
Markets are unique and you must address them.
2. Sometimes, generic websites and SEO companies are not the best solution.
To get dental offices to pay for their services, many SEO and website design firms charge a lot. They use the same template as all other offices and follow the same SEO standards.
You cannot be the #1 search term on Google for everyone. Therefore, you need to be realistic about your expectations of getting traffic from SEO companies.
3. It doesn’t necessarily mean that people are searching for what you have.
If your SEO company claims that you rank #1 in the term “Seattle Dental Office”, but you look at the search results and see that there are less than 100 people searching for this term per month, then it may not be a good keyword to rank for.
It is important to rank highly for terms people actually search for. Make sure to print out a list of the most searched terms for your service.
4. Although social media marketing can work well, it can also be expensive if done incorrectly.
Facebook ads can be great but you must set spending limits and ensure you get the return on your investment.
5. Despite what SEO companies may tell you, direct mail is not dead.
While most people are online, it is important to get multiple opinions before investing in a dental marketing strategy.
It is important to not put all your eggs in one basket. If you are investing in online marketing for dental services, make sure that you also spend money on direct mail.
Things like postcards, hand-written envelopes, and special “out-of-the-ordinary” packaging works best and has a great response and return on investment!
Bonus tip: It is possible to market to a specific market in nearly every market, but not to the people you are marketing to. This group is looking for a dentist.
